The mission of Goose Creek Correctional Center is to protect the public, recognize and protect victim’s rights, provide a safe and healthy environment for staff and prisoners alike while promoting rehabilitation and providing housing and services in an efficient manner.
Goose Creek Correctional Center, a Level II facility, protects the public by housing minimum, medium and Administrative Segregation 10 male sentenced and un-sentenced prisoners in a secure setting with supervision consistent with a prisoner’s custody classification.
Goose Creek Correctional Center recognizes the rights of victims by ensuring proper victim notification of prisoner events as required by state law.
Goose Creek Correctional Center ensures a secure, safe, sanitary, and healthy environment by adherence to American Correctional Association (ACA) Standards for Adult Local Detention Facilities.
Program opportunities at Goose Creek Correctional Center include adult educational instruction and work programs. Classes in Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Equivalency Diploma (GED), parenting, Re-entry, Criminal Attitudes Program (CAP), anger management, English as a Second Language, and substance abuse counseling are available to the prisoner population. Vocational opportunities are provided in carpentry, National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and electrical. Safety courses are provided in CPR/First Aid, rigging, flagging, asbestos abatement, and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). The facility coordinates with members of the community to provide periodic culturally relevant events.
Goose Creek Correctional Center’s work programs include custodial, culinary, laundry, and building maintenance positions. Prisoner recreation and leisure activities include exercise, reading materials, board games, puzzles, and media outlets such as television.
The facility endeavors to provide quality reformative and rehabilitative opportunities for its prisoner population and to partner with local community entities and programs in an effort to increase the likelihood of a prisoner’s success upon release to those communities serviced by Goose Creek Correctional Center.
