Program Description
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Adult Basic Education (ABE) Includes basic academic instruction in reading, writing, and computational skills below the ninth-grade level.
General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Secondary education in the form of instruction leading to a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Parenting InsideOut Dad is a program for incarcerated fathers that includes 12 one-hour core sessions and 26 one-hour optional sessions. The format allows a program to vary from very basic to very advanced depending on the need of the fathers'. It can be implemented in a group or in a one-on-one setting.
Introduction to Computers Basic computer instruction integrated as needed
Microsoft Certification Certification in the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Job Skills Job search, resumes, cover letters, interviews, attitudes, job challenges. Courses based on the competencies and foundation skills in the SCANS Report (Federal recommendation of workplace skills) and the National Career Development Guidelines.
Typing Mavis Beacon - typing accuracy, speed, and dictation.
Building Trades Vocational training media for essentially residential construction
College Classes Distance Education Classes, UAF
College Entrance Exams ASSET testing proctored at FCC scored at UAF with score-based class recommendations by UAF
High School Math Refresher Media based Math refresher classes.
High School Classes As needed when high school students are incarcerated. Coordinated with high school instructors/counselors.
