Correctional Officers Week 2017: Wildwood Correctional Complex Rally Around Their Fellow Officer

Celebrating Correctional Officer Week with Alaska Department of Corrections Correctional Officers statewide.

Today we feature the Wildwood Correctional Complex Staff who organized a wildly successful fundraiser to benefit Correctional Officer John Gozelski recently.

Current staff from multiple shifts as well as retired staff and families came together at American Legion Post 20 in Kenai for an evening which saw live and silent auctions, a taco feed, and raffles.

The event was made possible by donations from community businesses as well as private donations from staff and raised over $20,000 to send Ofc. Gozelski and his family to Disney following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in April.

We are immensely proud of our WCC officers and staff who rallied around one of their own in a time of need.

Thank you for your service, dedication, and committment to making our institutions safe and secure for inmates and staff.

We appreciate you!
